Piano and Keyboard Teacher - In Your Home

Is taking lessons at home a better deal? That depends on you.

Having a piano or keyboard teacher come to your home is a really convenient and comfortable option. You can save the time and effort of having to venture out and back. You might never have to worry about being late. You get the benefit of learning on your own piano or keyboard. Your teacher may even be able to help you get more out of your instruments capabilities.

There aren't many teachers who offer this option. But for those who are out and about all day anyway (like me), it's not a problem. If you have lessons from home, here are some things to consider.

Having a Piano and Keyboard Teacher at your Home:

- Ensure the space is adequate for learning music. This means having a clear, open space around the instrument, with at least 2 seats. Ensure the instrument is in an appropriate setting, like the living room. A bedroom is not a professional place to have a lesson. Try to minimise the chance that someone needs to move past or through the lesson space.

- Be prepared for the lesson. Just because you don't have to go anywhere, doesn't mean there's nothing to prepare. Besides preparing the space as mentioned, the student should be prepared too. Any learning notes, sheet music or other resources should be available. Including pen and paper. It's a really good idea to get practicing before the lesson starts too.

- Keep noise and distractions to a minimum. Lesson time is really valuable. Even simple sounds of talking, rummaging, or cooking, can sap the focus out of the lesson.

Learning Music at Home:

With learning at home, comes the responsibility of the space. Enjoy not having the commute, or time pressure of visiting your teacher. Without detriment to your lessons. It's your time, money, energy and education that's at stake. So take the necessary steps to get the most out of it.

I offer a first lesson for just £10. Giving new students the chance to go over concerns such as these, before getting into the full lesson experience. If you live around Brighton / Worthing areas, I might be able to deliver a lesson to you. If not, there's always online learning. Either way, you can find out more here.
