Listen… Be with music (Ep. 1)

 

Welcome to the very first in a series of music meditations about listening. Here we will be learning to become more familiar, comfortable and engaged with focusing our attention towards sounds.

 

What does it mean to listen? It’s something we do everyday, without trying. Yet we never practise it, unless we learn music. Even then, it can be so analytical and technical, we hardly notice the process. That’s really thinking about what you can hear, not just listening. Practising listening purely, as a meditation, means developing our ability to focus our attention towards sounds.

 
 

The more we notice what it means to listen, the more we can get from listening in our day - to - day lives. Take a few minutes to try practising listening for yourself:
